I have used Google Docs before, and it is really great! It was very helpful when we were putting together our wedding invitation list, because we could all add names and addresses to it, without having to wonder which list was the most up to date list.
In the art classroom, we don't do as much writing and proofreading, but if we do, I will definitely use Google Docs. I was also thinking that the form function could be useful in creating surveys or assessments when I need to know something is mastered, like the elements and principals of design.
I had never used Google Reader before, but I think it is really cool. I always end up checking each of my favorite websites individually to see what’s new. This puts it all together in one spot. Certainly, in the classroom, this program would be great for keeping student’s up to date on current events. It would also allow them to keep track of blogs that are related to projects, assignments, and other school matters.
If you read particular blogs, you'll find that Google Reader is a huge timesaver. One stop reading. I liked your idea of keeping the kids up to date with blogs related to their projects...perhaps a year-long project study.
